The most awaited movie of the year 'Dabangg' has had a wonderful opening. Interestingly, its first weekend's collection was more than that of 3Idiots, which uptill now was the highest gainer.

Salman Khan and Arbaz Khan starrer grossed 14.5 crore on the very first day of its opening, that is Thursday, September 9, 2010, whereas 3Idiots that was released on the eve of Christmas last year had earned 13 crore on the first day.

Trade analyst, Taran Adarsh said, "Dabangg is one film that everyone wants to watch because of the hype that Salman created before release. It has generated tremendous curiosity amongst the audiences.

One really cannot comment on whether it will surpass 3 Idiot's collection but the initial collection is certainly a clear indication that the film is going to be one of the biggest hits ever." He also noted that the long festive weekend is also one of the criteria for such a great opening.

Actor Shelly Malil Faces Life Imprisonment For Attempted Murder Of Kendra Beebe

Actor Shelley Malil is declared guilty and faces life imprisonment for a planned attempted murder of Kendra Beebe and also for physical attack with lethal weapon. The verdict was announced on Thursday, September 16, 2010.

Malil, who played the character of Haziz in 'The 40 Year Old Virgin' reportedly, stabbed Beebe 23 times. Malil's defence lawyer claims, "He was under attack. If he wanted to kill her, he could have done it right there."

During the trial, Shelly alleged, "Someone was hitting me with something, and all I had was this knife, and I just went bananas with the thing. And Kendra kept saying, 'Ali, call 911,' and that was the first time I realized that it was Kendra that I was fighting with."

On the other hand Beebe feels that it was a game plan between her ex-husband and Malil. She said, "Phone records that were presented during this trial accurately show Malil and my ex had numerous contacts in the hours prior to my stabbing."

Tere Bin Laden Star Ali Zaffar in YRF

The Pakistani actor and Musician, Ali Zafar who made his debut with critically acclaimed movie Tere Bin laden has got a big break in Bollywood.

It is official that he has been offered a role in Yash Raj film. He will be seen in a movie along with Imran Khan and the Katrina Kaif.

The excited Ali zaffar said, “I have been offered to do a parallel lead role along with Imran-Khan and Katrina Kaif.” He said, "I am excited to be roped in to act for a banner like Yash Raj Films. It’s like a dream come true. I’m enjoying my Bollywood journey and it’s very challenging. I thank the Bollywood fraternity for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talent.”

He is contemplating of a charity show in Lahore for the flood victims. He is planning to invite the 3 big khans of Bollywood for this noble cause.

Ali said, "People in Pakistan would love to have Bollywood stars perform along with us during the show. Moreover, it will also bring together people from the two nations for a special cause.” Sure, Bollywood and cricket can come handy in bridging the gap between India and Pakistan.

Dev D Wins 57th National Awards for Best Music

Dev D bagged the prestigious 57th National awards for the Best Music direction. The Muisc director of Dev D was amit Trivedi.

The 2009 release 'Dev D' is modern take on the classical novel 'Devdas' written by Saratchandra Chatterjee.

Dev D is the 13th film based on the Novel 'Devdas'.

The film had excellent music and songs which was very well received.

The cast of the Film 'Dev D' are Abhay Deol (spoilt rich son of a Bengali zamindar),  Mahi gill (Paro), Kalki Koechlin Koechlin as Lenis/Chanda (Chandramukhi).

The film was written and directed by Anurag Kashyap. The genre of the movis is comedy, drama and romance.

Apart from the National award it also received many film fare awards and was Nominated at 2009 Asia pacific Screen Awards at queensland Australia.

Dev D is one flight of fancy from the filmmaker that definitely defies all conventions and demolishes all moulds. It is considered as one of the trend setter movies of Bollywood.

Bold, trippy, Dev D is not only a visual delight, but is definitely a must watch for anyone interested in convincing Cinema.
