Indian singer and composer Suchitra Mitra passed away at her residence in Kolkata on Monday. Mitra was a respected exponent of the songs of the Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore.

The 86 year old singer died after prolonged illness and has left behind a son. Mitra worked as a professor and Head for several years in the Department of Rabindra Sangeet, at the Rabindra Bharti University.

Apart from singing Mitra has also acted in many Bengali films. In the year 1973, the singer was honored with a Padmashree and also won the Tagore Hymn Prize in 1945 from the London Tagore Hymn Society. Moreover Mitra also won the Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 1986, the HMV Golden Disc Award including the Deshikottam of Visva- Bharati.

Mitra was given the first lesson in Rabindra's music by Pankaj Mullick and since then she had developed her love for the songs and poetry of Rabindranath Tagore. The singer was said to have a natural gift of beautiful voice and expression.

Item girl, model and actress Deepal Shaw, was recently attacked by a drunken stranger in Juhu. The actress was driving back home around 10 pm, when the incident happened.

Deepal was driving when a man in a drunken state approached her car and started calling her. He started banging the car window and made awkward gestures. “I couldn’t even get out from there as I was stuck in Juhu Galli and there is only a single road open to traffic with construction on both sides, so the road was completely jam packed," she said.

While the actress tried her best to ignore him by looking the other way, she had forgotten to lock the doors, but fortunately she used her presence of mind and opened the door and pushed the man.

The actress confirmed, “It’s true that the incident was a complete nightmare and it’s rather unfortunate that it happened. Shaw also said that, there were auto rickshaw drivers and construction workers around, but no one even cared to come and rescue.

Bollywood actress Tulip Joshi has been accused of cheating in Kerala. An FIR has been filed against the actress.

Miss Joshi has been alleged by the producers of the movie Dam999, that she had taken an advance payment of Rs. 8.5 lakhs to work in the film but has not fulfilled the contract. Joshi in her defense said, “I had fallen ill and even mail the number of doctor so they could cross-check." The actress also said that, she was waiting for the production to call back the shooting, but later found that she was replaced by another actress.

Sohay Roy, the director of the film said, “We have lost Rs. 50 lakhs because of Joshi. We don’t know how the distributors will react to a new actress.” The producer of the film had said that, Tulip was not satisfied with the role and wanted to drop from the project.

So the producers of the film had replaced her with new comer Megha Burman. Miss Joshi has denied all the allegations and had signed a contract of 14 lakhs with the producers.

As per the news thats all over the internet and magazines that Sandra Bullock and her husband Jesse James adopted a black African baby. She had adopted the child in January 2010 and the news was broadcasted just last week.

The adoption process had begun 4 years back with the couple and then they adopted a baby boy and kept it a secret till the Oscars. Last week also confirmed the news of their divorce.

Sandra's adoption of the black baby was of a good cause but many don't appreciate it as many have questioned her regarding the colour of the baby. It's not the first time that a celebrity actress has adopted a child of a different domain.
