The cordless telephone is a telephone that you can carry with you as you move around. The difference between the cordless telephone and the mobile phone is that the cordless telephone is connected to the base station via a fixed telephone line just like the ordinary corded telephone. The cordless telephone is comprised of a wireless handset that uses radio waves to communicate and it requires a base station for its operation.
